Heather Abbott is a Professor at Indiana State University's College of Health and Human Services in the Department of Kinesiology, Recreation & Sport. She holds a Ph.D. in Sport Physiology and Performance from East Tennessee State University, an M.Ed. in Physical Education from Frostburg State University, and a B.S. in Health Science from Drexel University.

Her research focuses on sport physiology, athlete monitoring, and biomechanics. She has published on topics like neuromuscular physiology, reactive strength index analysis, and cultural intelligence in study abroad programs. Her work often bridges sports science with practical applications for athlete performance and wellness.
Abbott has received the Faculty Outstanding Teaching Award Level 2 and been recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. She advises the ISU Strength and Conditioning Club and participates in university committees like the Curriculum and Academic Affairs Committee and the Foundational Studies Council.
