Dr Hazel Moir is an Honorary Associate Professor at the ANU Centre for European Studies within the Research School of Social Sciences at the Australian National University. Her research focuses on intellectual property policy, particularly geographical indications (GIs), pharmaceutical patents, and international trade agreements. She critically examines the impact of IP regimes on access to medicines, public health, and agricultural trade.
Her work spans empirical analysis of GI policies, TRIPS-plus agreements, and the effects of patent evergreening on drug monopolies. Key projects include studies on EU-Australia trade relations and the implications of trade treaties on IP standards. Moir has published extensively on topics such as the economic impact of GIs, the role of IP in corporate taxation, and copyright policy reforms.
