Dr Hazel Christie is a Lecturer in University Learning and Teaching at the Institute for Academic Development (IAD), University of Edinburgh. She serves as Programme Director for the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice, focusing on staff professional development and student learning transitions.
Research Interests: Christie’s work explores student emotional dynamics, learner identity formation, and the challenges faced by non-traditional students (commuters, mature learners, disabled students) in higher education. Her studies emphasize equity, social justice, and pedagogical innovation.
Recent Publications: Her recent research examines commuter student experiences, mature learner transitions, and the use of blogging in assessment. These works highlight intersections of spatial mobility, socioeconomic status, and inclusive teaching practices.
