Hazel Allardyce

Dr Hazel Allardyce is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Aberdeen, affiliated with the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition. She works in the laboratory of Professor Simon Parson at the Institute of Medical Sciences.

• MSci in Human Anatomy (2019) from University of Glasgow
• PhD in Biomedical Science (2023) from University of Aberdeen

Her research focuses on the neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative aspects of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a pediatric motor neuron disease. She investigates how vascular dysfunction influences the neural environment and contributes to neurodegeneration.

Based on HECoS classifications, her work spans Anatomy, Neuroscience, and Cellular Pathology. She previously studied abroad at the University of Helsinki and completed a research placement at the University of Aberdeen during her MSci program.
