Allison D. Ebert is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cell Biology, Neurobiology and Anatomy at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and Director of the Neuroscience Doctoral Program. She holds a PhD from Northwestern University (2005) and a BS from Indiana University (1999).
Her research focuses on neurodegenerative diseases, using patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to model conditions like spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and congenital cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection. Key areas include astrocyte and microglia dysfunction in neurodegeneration, therapeutic gene modulation, and viral impacts on neurodevelopment. Recent work highlights cytokine targeting in SMA and HCMV-induced neuronal changes.
