Dr. Hayley O'Neill is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine, Bond University (Gold Coast, Australia). Her research focuses on intermittent fasting, metabolic surgery, obesity, and insulin resistance, with a strong emphasis on evidence synthesis and nutrition for optimizing health outcomes.
She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Medicine) from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Science) (Honours) from Deakin University. Her recent work includes publications in The Conversation and BMJ Evidence-Based Medicine, addressing topics such as weight loss strategies, brain health, and systematic reviews of dietary interventions.
Her research collaborations span institutions and disciplines, with a focus on metabolic and bariatric surgery, generative AI in evidence synthesis, and infant nutrition. She actively engages in public education through media commentary and invited talks.
