Hassan Hosseinzadeh is an Associate Professor at the University of Wollongong, School of Health and Society, Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities. He specializes in public health with a focus on health promotion, chronic disease management, digital health innovations like telemedicine, and primary care. His academic journey includes serving as Academic Program Director for Master of Public Health programs and as Discipline Lead for Health Promotion from 2018-2022 before being promoted to Associate Professor in 2022.
Dr. Hosseinzadeh holds a PhD from the University of Sydney and is fluent in Azerbaijani and English. His research focuses on chronic disease management (particularly diabetes and COPD self-management across diverse populations), digital health interventions, health promotion strategies, and primary care systems. He has conducted extensive research across Australia, Azerbaijan, India, Jordan, Pakistan, Nepal, Singapore, and Saudi Arabia, with particular expertise in culturally sensitive research methods and intervention design.
His scholarly output demonstrates a strong pattern of high-impact research, particularly through the Global Burden of Disease Study collaborations, alongside targeted clinical research on chronic disease management. His work spans from population-level epidemiological studies to clinical trials of specific interventions, with a consistent focus on practical applications that can improve health outcomes in real-world settings. A significant portion of his recent work examines digital health solutions and smartphone-related behaviors.

His current projects include the PRISIMA-PECO Trial for COPD management, ePREVENT-360 digital intervention study, and research on telemedicine in primary care. He serves on multiple grant assessment committees including NHMRC, ZonMw (Dutch), and Singapore's National Medical Research Council, demonstrating international recognition of his expertise. As Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Australian Health Promotion Journal, he contributes significantly to advancing knowledge in his field.
