Professor Harvey Burd is a Professor of Engineering Science and Tutorial Fellow at Brasenose College, University of Oxford. He holds a DPhil in soil mechanics and is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers. His teaching includes undergraduate tutorials on structural theory, dynamics, and mathematics, as well as advanced university-level civil engineering courses. His research focuses on computational and analytical models for civil engineering structures, particularly offshore wind turbine foundations (e.g., monopiles) and underground construction impacts. Collaborative work includes biomechanical modeling of the human eye. He has contributed to the PISA design framework for offshore foundations and authored over 100 journal articles. Professional roles include former Chairman of the Faculty of Engineering Science and Associate Head of the Engineering Science Department (Infrastructure).
