معرفی
Róisín Buckley is currently a Lecturer in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Glasgow and holds a Visiting Fellow position in Engineering at the University of Oxford. Her academic journey includes an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from the National University of Ireland, Galway (2007), an MSc in Soil Mechanics from Imperial College London (2014), and a PhD from Imperial College London, followed by a postdoctoral research associate role there. She previously served as the Ørsted REMS CDT Departmental Lecturer in Geotechnical Engineering at Oxford from 2019 to 2021.
- Education:
- BE (Hons) in Civil Engineering, National University of Ireland, Galway (2007)
- MSc in Soil Mechanics, Imperial College London (2014)
- PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, Imperial College London (exact year not specified)
Her research focuses on experimental geotechnics, emphasizing field pile testing, cyclic loading effects, high strain dynamic pile testing, site characterisation, and laboratory experiments. She aims to enhance the design and understanding of foundations for both onshore and offshore applications, particularly in renewable energy infrastructure like offshore wind turbine foundations.
Róisín has been recognized with the ICE David Hislop Award (offshore award) twice: in 2019 and 2021, for outstanding papers on offshore matters in ICE journals.
She advises two PhD students: Mrs Sarah Martin (Wolfson College, Oxford/Ørsted), researching cyclic loading of monopile foundations (commenced 2018), and Mr Luke Rieman (University of Glasgow), studying improved ground stiffness measurements for offshore wind turbine foundations (commenced 2021). She leads the SOURCE project and co-leads iDrive (as Co-Investigator) with Prof Brian Sheil at Oxford. Other projects include PICASO (led by Prof Byron Byrne) and ALPACA (led by Prof Richard Jardine).
