Dr. Eda's research interrogates the evolution of cultural identity through war and ecological crises. His first book project, Queer Unification: Community and Healing in the Korean Diaspora, examines how women and queer/non-binary Korean diasporic communities create alternative belonging spaces. His second project, Pyrosociology, analyzes fire's role in human cultures and collective agency during division and alienation.
His publications span interdisciplinary topics like diaspora mapping, decolonial peace-building, and grassroots resistance to disaster nationalism. He integrates social and natural sciences in his exploration of fire, food, and forestry.
As a third-generation Zainichi Korean, Dr. Eda centers social justice in both academic and community work, participating in transnational initiatives such as the Korea Education and Exposure Program and the "Comfort Women" Justice Coalition.
Prior to UCCS, Dr. Eda taught sociology, Asian American Studies, and English composition at Rutgers University.
