Linda Martin Smith

Linda Martin Smith is a Lecturer in the Women’s and Ethnic Studies (WEST) Program at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS), part of the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. She concurrently serves as Program Manager at The Matrix Center for the Advancement of Social Equity and Inclusion on campus.

Her educational background includes:

• M.A., Sociology & Graduate Certificate in Sociology of Diversity, Social Justice and Inclusion from UCCS
• B.A., Women’s & Ethnic Studies & Native American & Indigenous Studies Undergraduate Certificate from UCCS

Her academic work centers on interdisciplinary social justice frameworks, with specific focus areas including:

• Structural inequality and community engagement
• Intersectional approaches to ethnic and women's studies
• Institutional diversity initiatives
• Pedagogical strategies for inclusive education

She has been recognized with the Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award from the Women’s & Ethnic Studies Program.

In her teaching role, she leads the foundational course WEST 1010: Introduction to Social Justice Studies: Leadership, Inclusion, & Engagement, which examines systemic inequities and leadership development.
