Harry Dyer is an Associate Professor of Education at the University of East Anglia, School of Education & Lifelong Learning. He actively contributes to academia through roles such as joint lead organizer of the Social Media and Society conference, editor of Digital Culture and Education, and co-convener of the British Sociological Association’s Digital Sociology Group.

His research spans digital sociology, identity theory, and technology in education, focusing on youth digital literacies, online identity performances, and the impact of AI/social media on young people. Recent work includes studying Flat Earth communities and responsible AI integration in schools.
Key projects include the ETAT initiative on teacher agency with technology and the TYKES study on early years’ digital literacies. Harry actively promotes public engagement, delivering TEDx talks and media commentary on digital ethics.
