Harrison Lechley-Yuill is a Lecturer and Post-doctoral Researcher at the University of Brighton, affiliated with the Centre for Applied Philosophy, Politics and Ethics (CAPPE) and the Wellbeing State Network. He holds a PhD from the University of Brighton's Doctoral College, a Master's in Cultural and Critical Theory (2017), and a Bachelor's in Sport and Leisure Management (2013). His research focuses on reconstructing political resistance through critical engagements with property ownership, deconstruction, and intersectional theories including Black Studies and Indigenous scholarship.
Key research areas include how proprietary relationships perpetuate inequality, colonialism, and ecological breakdown. He applies Jacques Derrida's deconstruction to political theory, integrating post-Marxist, feminist, and decolonial perspectives. His work challenges traditional political resistance frameworks, proposing equality as a performative outcome of resistance acts like strikes, welfare programs, and transformative justice initiatives.
Notable contributions include publishing in Phenomenological Review and Interfere Journal, co-founding Interfere Journal as Senior Editor, and conducting interviews with scholars like Wendy Brown and Brenna Bhandar. His recent activities include organizing workshops with the Southern Philosophical Forum and serving on academic editorial boards. Current projects involve transforming his doctoral thesis into a book analyzing property, democracy, and Black radicalism.
