His research focuses on cellular senescence mechanisms in aging and age-related diseases, particularly Werner's syndrome. He has chaired the British Society for Research on Ageing and serves on advisory boards for longevity research foundations.
Research Interests: Cellular senescence dynamics, therapeutic reversal of aging mechanisms, and bioartificial organ development. Key areas include p38 MAPK pathway inhibition and resveratrol-based therapeutics.
Awards:
- Royal Pharmaceutical Society Conference Science Medal
- Paul F Glenn Award for aging mechanism research
- Lord Cohen Medal for gerontology services
Teaching Approach: Integrates neuroscience principles into curriculum design, emphasizing narrative learning arcs and conflict-resolution frameworks to enhance student engagement and self-efficacy.
