Harriet C. P. Lau is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth, Environmental & Planetary Sciences at Brown University. Her research focuses on global-scale geodynamical problems across diverse timescales, including solid Earth tides, ice sheet melting impacts, and mantle convection dynamics. She holds a PhD from Harvard University (2017) and an MSc from Imperial College (2012).
Research interests include Earth History, Geophysics, Oceans-Ice-Atmospheres interactions, and Environmental Science. Her work bridges short-term phenomena like ocean tides with long-term processes such as mantle convection, aiming to unify Earth's behavior across timescales.
Notable achievements include the 2022 Packard Fellowship and co-authorship of influential studies on early Earth tectonics and meltwater pulse reconstructions. She teaches courses on dynamic Earth processes and sea level changes.
