Harold Reiter is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, specializing in mathematics education and combinatorics. He has been actively involved in organizing and teaching mathematics competitions since the 1990s, including AMC 8/10/12 preparation courses and the International Mathematics Competitions (IMC). His work focuses on problem-solving strategies, curriculum development, and fostering mathematical talent in students through innovative teaching methods.
Reiter holds a PhD in Mathematics from Clemson University (1969) and has been recognized with awards such as the North Carolina Board of Governors' Public Service Award (2012) and the Paul Erdős Award (2002). He has authored influential textbooks like *American Mathematical Contests: A Guide to Success* and contributed to over 50 years of research in combinatorial games and educational pedagogy.
His current activities include leading free AMC8 preparation courses, developing online courses, and collaborating internationally with institutions in Indonesia, India, and the Navajo Nation to promote mathematics education.
