Professor Lisa A. Mantini is a Professor of Mathematics at Oklahoma State University (OSU), serving as Director of Undergraduate Studies and Undergraduate Advisor in the Department of Mathematics within the College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a B.S. from the University of Pittsburgh (1977) and a Ph.D. from Harvard University (1983). Her research focuses on representation theory, Lie groups, finite symmetry, and integral transforms, alongside contributions to undergraduate mathematics education and mathematics competitions. She has taught extensively at OSU since 1985, including courses in algebra, analysis, and mathematical modeling. Notable awards include the NSF grants (2000-2002), AAUW Fellowship (1994-1995), and multiple teaching accolades such as the Haimo Award (1995) and OSU’s Distinguished Teaching Award (1994).
Her research interests span representations of finite and Lie groups, finite Radon transforms, and pedagogical innovations in mathematics education. She co-advises Pi Mu Epsilon and OSU’s Math Club, and has been involved in high school math competitions. Professional service includes roles on the MAA’s Board of Governors and mentoring through the Park City Mathematics Institute.
Teaching highlights include pioneering courses like Mathematical Origami and Contract Bridge, with student projects showcased in her origami class. She has directed doctoral dissertations, masters’ reports, and senior theses, though specific advisee names are not listed here. Advising excellence is recognized through multiple Outstanding Advisor Awards (2009, 2017).
Her work extends to volunteer roles in church music and community engagement, alongside hobbies like bridge, cooking, and music composition for young instrumentalists.
