Prof. Dr. Harald Baumeister is Head of the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy at the Institute of Psychology and Education, University of Ulm, a position he has held since September 2015. He also serves as Clinical Director of the Psychotherapeutic Outpatient Clinic at the University of Ulm and is a supervisor at the Institute of Behavioural Therapy Education in Freiburg.

His research focuses on the intersection of mental and physical health, particularly depression in patients with chronic somatic diseases, clinical epidemiology, and health services research. His work integrates clinical practice with academic investigation, emphasizing evidence-based psychotherapy and the psychological aspects of chronic illness.
He has conducted scientific exchanges at the Black Dog Institute in Sydney, Australia (2010–2011) under a DFG research fellowship, and at the Centre for Health Studies in Seattle, USA (2007), collaborating with prominent researchers such as Gordon Parker and Michael von Korff.
Prof. Baumeister has held various academic and administrative roles, including interim director at the University of Freiburg, representative of mid-level faculty, and certification in university didactics (Baden-Württemberg). He holds a license to practice psychological psychotherapy and has been actively involved in clinical training and supervision.
