His research focuses on Social Policy and Urban Studies, particularly land relations, rural-urban migration, collective property rights, and urban development dynamics in China. He explores how ambiguous property rights, housing policies, and cooperative economic organizations shape urbanization processes.
The 2020-2023 publications highlight his work on trans-local constructions of home, property mind in housing, tourism-driven transformation of fishing villages, and land use policy conflicts. These studies emphasize China's urbanization and associated geopolitical implications.
Currently, he is participating in the COMU: Conviviality through multiscalar home Research Group (1.1.2025-30.11.2025), supported by University of Helsinki Funds. His work connects housing practices with broader sustainability and regional development themes.
