Chaitawat Boonjubun is a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Helsinki. He is affiliated with the Helsinki Institute of Urban and Regional Studies (Urbaria), Helsinki Inequality Initiative (INEQ), and the Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science (HELSUS). He supervises the Doctoral Programme in Political, Societal and Regional Change.

His research focuses on migration, sustainable development, poverty and inequality, and social/public policy, particularly in relation to urban land use, urban tourism, housing, and the food industry. His doctoral research examined urban land use and poverty in Bangkok, analyzing determinants such as urban informality, street vending, and religious land.
Recent publications and projects include studies on Thai berry pickers in Finland, social dialogue in post-COVID labor markets, and sustainable urban development. He has received a postdoctoral grant from the Finnish Cultural Foundation and contributes to the EU-funded AspirE project at Tampere University.

He serves on the International Editorial Advisory Board of Housing Studies and the Editorial Board of Just Ecological Political Economy (JEPE), part of HELSUS's Global South Theme. He has organized seminars and contributed to journals like the International Journal of Urban and Regional Research and the Journal of Urbanism.
