Dr. Olga Tkach is an Adjunct Professor at the Swedish School of Social Science, University of Helsinki, specializing in migration and welfare research. She is affiliated with the Helsinki Inequality Initiative (INEQ) and The Centre for Research on Ethnic Relations and Nationalism (CEREN).

Her research explores migration, border studies, and post-socialist transformations, with recent focus on homestay mediation for war-displaced people, moral economies of housing, and visa policy critiques. She analyzes intersectional positionality in fieldwork and contributes to debates on border violence and social inclusion.
Current projects investigate conviviality through multiscalar home dynamics and life-making strategies during societal collapse. She has published 13 research outputs since 2021, including peer-reviewed articles, commissioned reports, and literature reviews.
Olga actively supervises doctoral and Master’s theses, participates in academic events, and serves as a peer reviewer for journals like Gender, Place and Culture. She coordinates research networks and advises on migration policy.
