Dr. Hao Zheng is a Research Fellow at Curtin University's Influencer Ethnography Research Lab within the School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry (Faculty of Humanities). She holds a PhD from Deakin University and a first-class honours degree from the University of Melbourne. Her research focuses on gender/sexuality, transnational mobility, digital cultures, family reproduction, migration identity, and influencer studies. She has published in journals like Journal of Homosexuality and International Journal of Cultural Studies, and serves as a reviewer for Mobilities and LGBTQ+ Family: An Interdisciplinary Journal. She co-edits special journal issues and is a Guest Editor for Inter-Asia Cultural Studies.
Her work examines queer Chinese female students' identity formation in transnational contexts, leveraging digital platforms during immobility. Recent projects include a 2026 PhD scholarship opportunity on 'Queer Influencer Cultures in East Asia' supervised with Prof. Crystal Abidin. She acknowledges her settler status on unceded Nyungar and Wurundjeri lands.
