Hao Wu is a Distinguished Professor at the Faculty of Computer Science and Control Engineering, Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology (SUAT). Previously, he served as an Associate Professor at Emory University's Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics before transitioning to SUAT in 2023. He holds a Ph.D. in Biostatistics from Johns Hopkins University and additional degrees from Tsinghua and Iowa State Universities.
His research focuses on bioinformatics, computational biology, and statistical methods for analyzing large-scale genomic and biomedical data. Key areas include RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, epigenetic modifications, and applications in diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s. He collaborates with clinicians and developers tools like DSS, TOAST, and FEAST available on Bioconductor.
He advises a team of Ph.D. and Master’s students (e.g., Tao Deng, Runshu Wang, Zhiwei Ye) and oversees former students now in academia and industry. His lab (haowulab.org) emphasizes open-source software with over 30,000 annual downloads.
