معرفی
Professor Hao Wang is a leading academic in Mathematical Biosciences, holding the Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) at the University of Alberta's Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences. He directs the Interdisciplinary Lab for Mathematical Ecology & Epidemiology (ILMEE). His research focuses on mathematical modeling of ecological and epidemiological systems, including spatial dynamics, disease transmission, and environmental impacts. He serves on editorial boards of journals like Mathematical Biosciences and Engineering and Journal of Mathematical Biology.
Current grants include leadership roles in projects addressing methane emissions from oil sands, cyanobacterial blooms, and long-term health effects of COVID-19. Notable awards include the CAIMS-SCMAI Research Prize and recognition as a Great Supervisor.
Research interests span mathematical ecology, epidemiology, and environmental modeling, with a focus on applying differential equations and stochastic processes to real-world challenges. Recent work explores climate change impacts, toxin-mediated population dynamics, and optimal control strategies in disease management.
His publications (over 200) address topics like cholera dynamics, spatial memory effects in predator-prey systems, and algae-bacteria interactions. He collaborates internationally, integrating computational methods and field data.
Teaching includes Ordinary Differential Equations (MATH 334-A1) in Spring 2025, emphasizing rigorous analysis and applications in biology and ecology.
