Dr. Hans-Dieter Heumann is a Lecturer at the University of Bonn's Department of Modern History, affiliated with the Kießling Chair. He holds a doctorate in Political Science from the University of Bonn (1982), supervised by Prof. Karl-Dietrich Bracher. Prior to his academic role, he had a distinguished diplomatic career including service as German Ambassador to the Council of Europe (2009-2011), President of the Federal Academy for Security Policy (2011-2015), and senior positions in German embassies in Washington DC and Paris.
His research focuses on:
