Hans Cappon is a lecturer in the Water Technology research group at HZ University of Applied Sciences and a lecturer/researcher in Urban Systems Engineering at Wageningen University & Research's Department of Environmental Technology. With over 20 years of scientific research experience, he specializes in modeling and optimization of dynamic systems, focusing on water purification and energy systems. His PhD (2014) explored ultrasonic particle filters for water treatment, and he holds a master's in Biomechanical Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology (1997).
Key projects include NEREUS (urban sanitation energy/resources), FRESH4Cs (coastal freshwater alternatives), IMPROVED (mobile process water supply), and the EU FP7 E4Water pilot. He contributes to Horizon 2020 (AquaSPICE) and Interreg projects like Aquatuur, addressing freshwater scarcity and sustainable water solutions.
Expertise spans desalination, mathematical modeling, system identification, and sensor technology. His work integrates applied research with education, teaching water treatment at both bachelor's and master's levels.
