Prof. Hanny Elzinga is a Professor of Criminal Law and Development of Academic Education at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Law. She serves as Dean of the University of Groningen Honours College since 2011. Her academic career includes roles as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in Criminal Law and Criminology (1997–2011). Her research focuses on criminal law/procedure in interdisciplinary contexts and academic education innovation, particularly interdisciplinary excellence trajectories.
Education: Law studies at RUG, PhD (1998) on appeal mechanisms in criminal law. She worked at Tilburg University's Criminal Law Department before returning to Groningen.
Research emphasizes legal education reform, interdisciplinary curriculum design, and criminal justice procedural frameworks. Her publications analyze expert testimony systems, legal remedy applications, and interdisciplinary legal pedagogy.
Additional roles include Substitute Judge at Arnhem-Leeuwarden Court of Appeal, board member of Groningen University Fund, and member of SIAGD complaints committee. She co-authored reports on student feedback mechanisms and legal curriculum quality assurance.
