Hanne Lillemork serves as a Doctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Public and International Law within the Faculty of Law at the University of Oslo. Her position places her within the university's academic staff structure, contributing to legal scholarship through specialized research in evidence interpretation within sexual violence cases.
Her research focuses on the intersection of criminal procedure, medical evidence, and societal perceptions in rape adjudication. Specifically, she investigates how physical evidence is understood differently by medical professionals, legal practitioners, and laypersons, with emphasis on systemic gaps in evidence evaluation. This work bridges forensic medicine, criminal justice, and victimology, addressing critical flaws in legal processes for sexual assault survivors.
Lillemork leads the Evidently Rape project, which analyzes medical-legal evidence dynamics in rape cases through interdisciplinary methodologies. This initiative examines courtroom practices, forensic documentation, and juror comprehension to develop evidence-based reforms for legal systems handling sexual violence. Her approach integrates doctrinal legal analysis with empirical social science to challenge conventional evidence frameworks.
