معرفی
Professor Anna Carline is a legal scholar specializing in criminal law, criminal justice responses to sexual violence, and feminist/gender theory. She joined her current Law School in 2019, following roles at the University of Leicester and Liverpool John Moores University. Her research employs socio-legal, comparative, and interdisciplinary methods, focusing on rape, sexual assault, prostitution, trafficking, and domestic homicide. She has led significant projects, including a Ministry of Justice-funded evaluation of sentencing guidelines for sexual offenses and British Academy-funded studies on the criminal justice response to rape.
Her work bridges legal theory and practice, such as developing guidelines for alcohol-related rape investigations and a primary prevention initiative to reduce sexual violence in nightlife areas. Collaborations with stakeholders like the police and CPS highlight her applied research impact. Dr. Carline has also pioneered artful interventions, such as the 'Let’s Talk About Sexual Violence' exhibition, blending activism with legal education.
Her recent co-authored monograph, Affective Justice: Rape and the Courtroom Assemblage (2024), integrates new materialism and affect theory to critique courtroom dynamics. Teaching spans criminal law, family law, and socio-legal methods, emphasizing gender and social justice.
