Hannah Viola

Hannah Viola is a Research Fellow at the University of Michigan, affiliated with the Lonnie Shea Lab. Her research focuses on developing microphysiological systems and in vitro models to study respiratory diseases, inflammation mechanisms, and tissue engineering. She specializes in high-throughput quantitation of cellular responses, microfluidic airway-on-a-chip technologies, and translational research bridging bench-to-bedside applications in respiratory medicine.

Her work integrates biomedical engineering principles with cell biology to model complex pathophysiological processes, such as neutrophil transmigration in lung injury and mechanical force-induced inflammation in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
