معرفی
Hannah Rickman is a Lecturer in Biomedical Science at Bournemouth University, joining in August 2023. Her teaching focuses on foundational science, cell biology, and blood science at both Year 1 and Year 2 levels. Prior to this, she led Blood Science units at Solent University and earned her PhD in Medical Imaging at Imperial College London.
- PhD in Medical Imaging (Imperial College London, 2021)
- MRes in Medical Imaging (King's College London, 2017)
- MSci in Chemistry (University of Birmingham, 2016)
- Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA, 2022)
Her research bridges imaging agent development and image-guided therapies, with a focus on gold nanoparticles for cancer imaging and therapy, peptide-linked multi-metallic structures for heart disease imaging, and applications of photodynamic therapy in oncology and antibiotic-resistant infections. She collaborates with clinicians at University Hospitals Dorset to validate MRI for biliary microlithiasis diagnosis and develops gallbladder models with Dr Sarah Upson to replicate MRI features.
Recent scientific contributions include a 2024 grant for MRI-based microlithiasis quantification. Her publications span MRI contrast agents, nanoparticle functionalization, and theranostic applications, often integrating photodynamic-photothermal therapy strategies and multimodal imaging approaches.
- Towards non-invasive quantification of microlithiasis by MRI (Bournemouth University, 04 Mar 2024)
She also delivered an invited careers talk at Imperial College London for International Women's Day, sharing her journey from PhD student to lecturer.
