Dr. Hannah Mossman is a Senior Lecturer in Ecology at Manchester Metropolitan University's School of Life Sciences, specializing in Restoration Ecology with a focus on coastal habitats. She serves as Admissions Tutor for Biology and Conservation programs and is seconded to the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) Conservation Evidence Team. Her research addresses saltmarsh restoration, blue carbon storage, and landscape-scale biodiversity conservation.

- PhD in Saltmarsh Vegetation Development, University of East Anglia (2003-2007)
Research Areas include Saltmarsh Restoration (topographic diversity, managed realignment), Blue Carbon (carbon sequestration in coastal wetlands), Evidence-Based Conservation (Biodiversity Audit Approach), and Public Engagement (citizen science surveys). Her 2025 work on Amazonian plant genetics expands her expertise into tropical ecology, while 2024 studies address urban noise impacts on avian behavior.
Scientific Awards include the Beyond Excellence Award 2022, Flood and Coastal Excellence 2022 for Net Zero contributions, and the Jacobs CFO Sustainable Solution Award. She was awarded the British Ecological Society Policy Fellowship to work in Defra.
As a PhD/MSc supervisor, she has guided students including Caroline Rothschild, Thomas Hughes, and Ryan Edge. Her work has been featured in BBC, Guardian, The Times, and COP26, emphasizing climate change adaptation and coastal management solutions.
