Hannah Caroline Schaeffer

Hannah Caroline Schaeffer is a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law since January 2022. She is affiliated with academic institutions including Goethe-University Frankfurt a.M. and Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg (i.Br.).

Her research focuses on the Sociology of Law, Constitutional Law, and Critical Legal Theory, with a particular emphasis on the intersection of International Law and Emotions. She co-authored a publication analyzing the future of the international legal order in the context of the Ukraine conflict and participated in conferences addressing topics like human rights, populism, and threats to democracy.

She was awarded a scholarship by the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes (2017-2021) and has actively engaged in academic events such as the 49. Feministischer Jurist*innentag and Max Planck Masterclasses on colonial legacies and rights in America.
