Hanna Tulis is a Lecturer in the Department of Architecture at Cornell University's College of Architecture, Art, and Planning (AAP), where she teaches design studios and seminar courses. She coordinates the B.Arch. Engaged Practices Studio and is a 2024–2025 Einhorn Center Engaged Faculty Fellow, reflecting her commitment to community-engaged pedagogy and practice.
Her research interests lie at the intersection of architecture, urbanism, and the performing arts. With a background in contemporary dance, she explores how choreographic thinking can inform architectural production and spatial design. Her teaching includes core design studios across the B.Arch curriculum and a seminar on visual representation titled Performance Where? Moving Bodies and Other Spaces, which investigates movement and space.
Hanna is the founder of Both-And Collaborative, a multidisciplinary design practice based in Ithaca, New York. Her professional experience includes work at Selldorf Architects, OMA, Beyer Blinder Belle, and McBride Architects, with a focus on cultural and residential projects, including the renovation and expansion of The Frick Collection.
- Einhorn Center Engaged Faculty Fellow (2024–2025)
She advises students through studio teaching and curriculum development, particularly in community-engaged design. While no formal grants are listed, her fellowship with the Einhorn Center supports her engaged teaching practices. She is involved in academic initiatives such as the Cornell Mui Ho Center for Cities and the Einhorn Engaged Initiative, contributing to broader research and outreach efforts within AAP.
Hanna leads and supports design research through her independent practice and academic studios, integrating professional work with pedagogy. Her studio courses and seminars function as labs for interdisciplinary exploration, particularly in visual representation and performance-based spatial inquiry.
