Hanna Ojala is a Senior Lecturer in the Unit of Social Research at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Tampere University. She earned her PhD in Adult Education in 2011 and became a Docent in Gender Studies in 2015.
Research Interests: Her work intersects age, gender, and class in contexts like men’s health, retirement, anti-ageing practices, grandfathering, and communities. She leads the ethnographic Yoga for Old Guys study and co-directs the longitudinal MANage project on Finnish men’s ageing. Additional collaborations include multidisciplinary psychosocial cancer research and feminist pedagogy development.
Publications: Frequently appear in journals like Men & Masculinities, Ageing & Society, and The Gerontologist, with thematic emphasis on gendered age relations, bodily norms, and cancer survivorship.
