Hanna Lindström is an Assistant Professor (on leave) and Research Fellow at the Department of Economics, Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics (USBE), Umeå University. Her research focuses on public procurement, environmental policy evaluation, consumer preferences, and producer behavior. She holds a doctoral degree from Umeå University, defended in 2021 with a thesis titled Food for Thought: Essays on Green Public Procurement and the Market for Organic Food.
Her work investigates the role of public procurement as an environmental policy instrument, consumer demand for organic products, and price dynamics in organic markets. She co-authored reports on public procurement and leads projects on green transition impacts and procurement process strategies. Lindström received the USBE Scientific Award 2023 for her contributions to academic research.
Her current projects include analyzing labor demand effects of Sweden’s green transition in energy-intensive sectors and developing strategic tools for improving procurement processes to attract more tenderers. She is affiliated with the Samhällsvetarhuset research facility in Umeå.
