Hanna Gabrielsson is an Associate Professor at the Swedish Red Cross University's Department of Health Sciences. She holds a PhD in Medical Science (defended 2020) with a focus on health and care science. Her teaching responsibilities include consensus concepts in nursing, global nursing ethics, thesis supervision, and advanced-level examinations.
She serves as Vice Chair of the Education and Research Committee (UFN) and a member of the exemption committee. Externally, she is the contact person for the Swedish Network for Disability Research. Her research focuses on spina bifida, participatory methods like photovoice, and civil society roles in healthcare. Current projects include studies on living with personal assistance (collaborating with Karolinska Institutet) and civil society's role in cancer rehabilitation (with Marie Cederschiöld University).
Her research spans quantitative and qualitative methods, emphasizing co-creation with participants. Notable work includes analyzing organizational resilience during the pandemic and exploring everyday life experiences of adults with spina bifida through photovoice.
Her academic output includes over a decade of peer-reviewed publications, with recent emphasis on cancer rehabilitation pathways and methodological innovations in participatory research. She actively collaborates with clinical partners to bridge academic and practical healthcare challenges.
