Kamila Czene is a Professor in Cancer Epidemiology at the Karolinska Institutet, part of the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics. She holds a PhD from Karolinska Institutet (1999) and is a Docent (2005). Her research focuses on breast cancer epidemiology, including genetic, molecular, and clinical factors influencing disease risk and prognosis. She leads a dedicated research group exploring breast cancer subtypes, treatment responses, and mammographic features.
Dr. Czene has been recognized with the Young Investigator Award (Swedish Cancer Society, 2007) and is a member of prestigious organizations like the Nobel Assembly (2021–present) and the Swedish Cancer Society's Research Board (2018–2024). She has supervised over 30 doctoral and postdoctoral students, contributing to interdisciplinary studies in cancer epidemiology.
Her work spans grants funded by the Swedish Research Council, Erling-Persson Foundation, and others, focusing on improving screening protocols and risk stratification. Her research group collaborates widely, addressing gaps in early detection and personalized prevention strategies for breast cancer.
