Hanna Bäck is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at Lund University and an Assistant Coordinator in the LU Profile Area: Natural and Artificial Cognition. She holds a PhD from Uppsala University (2003) and has held postdoctoral fellowships at the European University Institute and the University of Twente. Her research focuses on coalition politics, political parties, legislative behavior, and political psychology, particularly addressing topics like affective polarization, voter behavior, and radicalization.
She currently serves as co-editor of the journal Research & Politics and is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities. Her work contributes to advancing understanding of multiparty systems, government formation, and elite rhetoric, with recent projects including studies on polarization, societal security, and digital democracy. Bäck has supervised five doctoral students and leads several research projects funded by institutions like the Swedish Research Council. She is actively involved in academic activities, including organizing seminars and editorial roles.
