Hani Ghosheh is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Agronomy, Horticulture and Plant Science at South Dakota State University (SDSU), specializing in weed science and agronomy. With over 25 years of academic experience, he has held roles including Professor of Weed Science at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), a visiting scholar at the University of Kentucky, and an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow in Stuttgart, Germany.
Education includes a Ph.D. in Agronomy (Weed Science) from Texas A&M University, an M.S. in Plant Production (Plant Breeding) from the University of Jordan, and a B.S. in Plant Production from the University of Jordan. His research focuses on weed management strategies, agronomic practices, curriculum development, and online teaching innovations.
Key academic interests include sustainable agriculture, herbicide sensitivity, crop-weed interactions, and graduate student supervision. He teaches courses like Crop Production, Crop Improvement, and Non-Chemical Weed Management at SDSU.
His 30+ peer-reviewed articles explore topics such as weed population genetics, allelopathic effects, and seed desiccation tolerance. Awards include the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship. He currently coordinates undergraduate teaching in the Department and conducts research at the McFadden Biostress Laboratory in Brookings, SD.
