University of California , Santa Barbara (UCSB)معرفی
Halley E. Froehlich is an Associate Professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara, affiliated with the Departments of Ecology, Evolution, & Marine Biology and Environmental Studies. Her research focuses on the sustainability of seafood systems and marine ecosystems under climate change, integrating ecological modeling, data science, and social science. She earned her B.Sc. in Animal Biology from UC Davis and her Ph.D. in Marine Ecology & Fishery Sciences from the University of Washington.
Her work addresses the global expansion of aquaculture, its interactions with wild fisheries, and climate adaptation strategies. Current projects explore marine spatial planning, aquaculture policy, and public perception of ocean-terrestrial conservation linkages. Froehlich co-leads the Conservation Aquaculture Research Team (CART) and is a co-PI on national/international seafood initiatives.
Key research themes include climate resilience of aquaculture, feed and seed sustainability, and conservation aquaculture. Recent publications analyze climate threats to U.S. aquaculture, global yield trends, and community conflicts over aquaculture siting. She advocates for diversity in STEM and mentors students through interdisciplinary approaches.
