Halina Lewandowska

Halina Lewandowska is a Lecturer at the Faculty of English, Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU) in Poznań, Poland. She is actively involved in research on second and third language phonetics, multilingual acquisition, and the relationship between language and music. She teaches practical English courses focusing on pronunciation and grammar for children, youth, and adult learners.

Her research centers on phonological development in multilingual speakers, particularly in third language acquisition. She investigates cross-linguistic influence, language dominance shifts, and the cognitive interplay between music and language processing. Her work combines experimental phonetics with applied linguistics, often presented at international forums. She is a member of key academic organizations including EuroSLA, the International Association of Multilingualism, and the International Phonetic Association.

Her recent scholarly presentations reflect a strong focus on multilingualism, phonetics, and language acquisition. Themes include L3 phonological development, accent variation, and cognitive processing in multilinguals. These outputs demonstrate sustained engagement with experimental and theoretical phonetics, particularly in educational and developmental contexts.

Halina has served as Principal Investigator on a National Research Centre-funded project (2018–2020) on language dominance shifts in L3 phonological development. She has mentored students through outreach events like Phontastic and has been actively involved in academic service, including conference organization, student representation on the PhD Council, and committee work for student financial support. Her teaching spans EFL instruction with specialized vocabulary and pronunciation training.

She is a member of Bilingualism Matters @Poznań, an outreach initiative promoting research-based understanding of bilingualism. She has participated in the Poznański Festiwal Nauki i Sztuki and co-organized interactive phonetics events to engage the public and students in linguistic science.
