Anna Balas

Dr. hab. Anna Balas is a Professor at the Faculty of English, Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU), specializing in phonetics and phonology with a focus on speech perception, production, and vowel systems. She investigates second and third language acquisition, particularly Polish learners' phonetic challenges, and contributes to multilingual phonological research.

Her recent research explores multilingual phonological interactions through ERP studies and acoustic analysis. She teaches English phonetics, pronunciation, and BA seminars on language acquisition. Balas serves on international conference committees and contributes to journals like International Journal of Multilingualism and Journal of the Acoustical Society of America.

Scientific awards include the AMU Rector's Scholarship (2019). Her publications examine cross-linguistic vowel/speech processing, rhotics, and phonological modeling in multilingual contexts.
