Haley Zettler is an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at the University of North Texas (UNT). She serves as Coordinator of the UNT Inside-Out Program, which runs the first Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program in Texas, launched in Fall 2022. Her research focuses on community-engaged approaches to criminal justice, including probation practices, trauma-informed treatments, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and technical violations in supervision.
Dr. Zettler’s work emphasizes innovation in corrections, particularly leveraging technology during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic. Her research has explored shifts in probation professionals’ attitudes toward supervision, the impact of ACEs on recidivism, and trauma-informed interventions for youth. She co-authored key studies on probation operational changes during the pandemic and the role of technology in supervision.
Her publications include analyses of probation reforms, juvenile justice outcomes, and the intersection of trauma and criminal behavior. Dr. Zettler advocates for evidence-based practices and collaborative community partnerships to address systemic challenges in justice systems.
