Brae Young, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminology & Criminal Justice at Texas Christian University (TCU), affiliated with the AddRan College of Liberal Arts. His research focuses on juvenile justice, family involvement in incarceration, and prisoner reentry. Young holds a Ph.D., MS, and BS in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Florida State University (2020, 2016, 2012).
His work explores visitation policies in juvenile facilities, spatial barriers to family engagement, and the impact of incarceration on youth. Key themes include reducing recidivism through family ties and improving systemic support for incarcerated adolescents and their families. He teaches courses like Youthful Offending, Juvenile Justice, and Research Design.
Publications highlight topics such as visitation effects on recidivism, state policy variability, and the well-being of incarcerated teen parents. His research emphasizes evidence-based practices and policy reforms to address systemic gaps in juvenile justice systems.
