Taylor N. Hartwell

Taylor N. Hartwell is a doctoral student in Criminology, Law and Society at George Mason University, an adjunct professor in Criminal Justice and Psychology at York College of Pennsylvania, and a Social Science Research Specialist at the U.S. Secret Service National Threat Assessment Center since 2023.

Her research centers on corrections, trauma/PTSD, and health intersections within criminal justice systems. She conducts qualitative analyses of prison environments—particularly solitary confinement units—examining organizational culture, collective efficacy, and trauma impacts on incarcerated individuals and staff during correctional reforms.

At George Mason, she co-directed the Center for Advancing Correctional Excellence (ACE!)
