Hal A. Lawson is the Vincent O'Leary Professor at the University at Albany with joint appointments in Educational Policy & Leadership and Social Welfare. With nearly 50 years of experience across 5 universities, his work focuses on school-community partnerships serving vulnerable populations. He specializes in innovations like school-linked health services, parent resource centers, and youth-led programs.
His international consultancy spans 12 countries, including advisory roles for the Dutch National Institute for Education and Youth Care and the US National Center for Mental Health in Schools. Current research includes family-centered obesity prevention programs and turnaround models for underperforming schools.
