Hajar Yazdiha is Associate Professor of Sociology at USC, faculty affiliate of the USC Equity Research Institute, and Andrew Carnegie Fellow. Her research examines the politics of inclusion/exclusion through lenses of social movements, race/ethnicity, and collective memory.
Research Focus:
- How politics transforms civil rights movement memory
- Racial framing in immigration debates
- Muslim American identity and policing
- Du Boisian approaches to immigrant incorporation
Authored award-winning book The Struggle for the People's King analyzing political manipulation of civil rights memory. Current projects funded by Carnegie Foundation and Harvard Kennedy School examine racial justice and human rights.
