Hajar Hussaini is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the English Department at Skidmore College, where she teaches courses in literature, poetry, and creative writing. She holds a BS from Russell Sage College and an MFA from the University of Iowa.

Research and Teaching Interests: Hussaini’s work centers on Poetry, Creative Writing, and Translation Theory and Practice, with a focus on Global Anglophone and Postcolonial Literature, Persian Literature, and Literature of Afghanistan. Her publications and translations explore diasporic narratives, linguistic hybridity, and avant-garde poetic forms.
Selected Publications: Her recent works include the poetry collection Disbound (University of Iowa Press, 2022) and translations of Persian and Afghan texts. The forthcoming translation of Khosraw Mani’s novel (Syracuse University Press, 2025) highlights her engagement with diasporic and postcolonial themes.
