Haitao Lan

Dr. Haitao Lan is a Lecturer in Infrastructure Engineering, specializing in geotechnical and geomatics research. His work focuses on experimental and numerical studies of soil and underground infrastructure, including development of design models for installation and rehabilitation of underground systems. He leads research into digital twins for infrastructure management and is affiliated with the Geotechnics and Geomatics research group.

Recent research includes the Wolfson Foundation-funded National Engineered Slope Simulator (NESS) facility. Past projects include seabed cable fatigue analysis (2020-2023), pipe liner evaluations (2019-2020), and buried pipe performance studies (2012-2018). His expertise spans HDD drilling challenges, pipeline structural behavior, and subsurface monitoring technologies.

Dr. Lan welcomes PhD candidates and industry collaboration. His research bridges experimental methods, numerical simulations, and practical engineering solutions for sustainable underground infrastructure systems.
